PATTIE MCMULLEN
Cedar Rapids
Pattie McMullen, 84, born Aug. 5, 1930, passed away peacefully Sept. 11, 2014, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Pattie was a graduate of the Roosevelt High School January class of 1948 and married her high school sweetheart, Chuck McMullen, on April 8, 1951. They moved to Fort Jackson, S.C., so Chuck could proudly serve in the U.S. Army. When they returned to Cedar Rapids, Pattie worked as a bookkeeper for F.W. Woolworth Co. for 33 years and then part-time at Theisen's for five years before retiring permanently to take care of her ailing husband.
Survivors include her loving husband, Chuck McMullen; and god-daughter, Geri Albrecht of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Robinson and Helen Love Marshall; and her sister, Helen A. Molnar.
Pattie was an avid fan of the Cedar Rapids Kernels and thoroughly enjoyed shopping and crossword puzzles. She also was a member of Praha Rebekah Lodge, Noble Grand.
Pattie was happiest when her friends were all together, and she hosted many holiday gatherings. Christmas was her all-time favorite holiday. Pattie always looked at all of the good in the world and lived life with complete joy and passion. She gave everyone who knew her a world worth loving.
We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy and the staff at Mercy Medical Center, especially Dr. Deborah Wilbur, for their wonderful care of Pattie.
The celebration of Pattie's life will be held at the Kernels Stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
