Patterson, Joan K.
Joan K. Patterson, 82, of 6702 Kingswood Lane NE, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Marilyn Buchanan. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Luesther (Steve) Patterson-Sisco of Cedar Rapids, George (Linda) Patterson of Mechanicsville and Charles (Eileen) Patterson of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; grandchildren, Faith (Dylan) Drahos, Andrew (Wendy), Lindsay, Charlie and Shaylin Patterson and Kyle and Connor Patterson; great-grandchildren, Blake and Paige Drahos and Jereme and Renae Patterson; and her brother, Charles (Conni) Kimpston of Polk City.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; and her parents.
Born Oct. 18, 1928, in Strawberry Point, Iowa, Joan was the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Sargent) Kimpston. On Feb. 20, 1948, she was united in marriage to Morris Langham Patterson. He died Nov. 27, 1976. Joan worked as a secretary and teacher associate in the Cedar Rapids Community School District.
