Patterson, Arlene R.
Arlene R. Patterson, 94, of Shellsburg, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Tim Dyck officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arlene Roberta Patterson was born Aug. 13, 1918, to Samuel and Lottie Miller in Keokuk County, Iowa. She had earned a teaching certificate and taught school before she married Lyle E. Patterson on Dec. 20, 1936. They resided in Cedar Rapids for many years, before moving to Davenport and then on to Phoenix, Ariz. She returned to Iowa in 2007. She resided at Rock Ridge independent living for the last three years.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita (Louis) Gardemann; a grandson, Timothy Gardemann; two granddaughters, Twyla Gardemann and Michele Heather Patterson; and two great granddaughters.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Lyle; two sons, Kenneth and Frederick; and two brothers, Melvin and Byron.
