Patten, Ruth H.
Ruth H. Patten, 86, a resident of Summit Pointe Senior Living Community in Marion, was called to her heavenly home Friday, Aug. 20, 2010. Services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Graveside services and interment: 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the church.
Surviving to cherish her memory are three children, Barbara J. Mordhorst and husband Dennis of Soldier, Iowa, Steven R. Patten of Iowa City, and Linda S. Patten of Marion; three grandchildren, Debra Gress and husband Aaron of Charter Oak, Iowa, Jenny Neddermeyer and husband Jason of Marcus, Iowa, and Robin Neddermeyer and husband Jared of Charter Oak, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Dawson and Peyton Gress, Hannah and Kaden Neddermeyer; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Koch of LaCrosse, Ind., and Jean Koch of Bloomington, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a sister, Pauline; and two brothers, the Rev. Paul and the Rev. Roland.
Ruth was born May 11, 1924, in Waverly, Iowa, to the Rev. Otto and Ruth (Lottes) Koch. She married Robert D. Patten on June 28, 1949, in Waverly, Iowa. She was employed by the Lutheran Mutual Insurance Co. as a typist. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and St. John's Lutheran Church in Monticello. She loved music, traveling, flower gardening, and spending time with her family.
Ruth's family wishes to give special thanks to Summit Pointe and Iowa Hospice for its tender care of her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
