Patten, Evelyn M.
Evelyn M. Patten, 92, of Brooklyn, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn, Iowa. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn.
Evelyn Marie Patten was born Oct. 15, 1920, to Noble and Grace Hoag Spilman in Linn County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Claude Wayne Patten on Dec. 24, 1941, in Missouri. He passed away in February 2009. Evelyn enjoyed playing golf, helping at the Senior Center, crocheted sweaters and toy balls for Stork Nest Donations, cooking and helping others. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, UMW and South Side Circle.
She is survived by her children, Judi Roberts of Brooklyn, David (Helen) Patten of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Debra) Patten of Republic, Mo. and John (Mary Jo) Patten of Victor; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; one daughter; a sister; and a brother.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
