Patrick "Patty" Daniel Cummings, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at the VA Healthcare System, Iowa City. Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. There will also be one hour of visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sandy) of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Brenda (Eric) Meyer of Bentonville, Ark., and Lisa (Jess) Streif of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Jason (Karin) Martin-Hiner of Strawberry Point and Melissa (Brian) Reynolds of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Garret, Logan, Ryan and Taitum Meyer and Chloe, Mia and Aron Streif; two step-grandchildren, Gabriel and Mikayla Hiner; two sisters, Colleen (Steve) Camp of Fairfax and Cherri (Bill) Polton of Cedar Rapids; and nieces, Kate Heuer
and Maria, Amanda and
Samantha Polton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike.
Patrick was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Imogene (Brady) Cummings. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. On Jan. 27, 2001, he married Sandra Gogel in Cedar Rapids.
Patrick was a pipefitter and a member of Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters Association for 43 years. Pat enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed time camping, being outdoors and fishing on the river.
Patrick has donated his body to the University of
Iowa Carver College of Medicine for scientific purposes. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Isidore's Cemetery, Springville.
