Patricia Marie Secrest, 65, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Pioneer Park Care Center in Lone Tree.
Mass of Christian Burial will 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Patty's family and her services.
Patricia Marie Secrest was born Sept. 13, 1950. She was adopted by William and Eleanor Secrest as an infant and grew up on the family farm near Downey, Iowa. She attended West Branch schools, graduating in 1968. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in education, she taught elementary school in Maquoketa.
When health problems began to plague Patty, she returned home to live with her parents. She resided at Pioneer Park with her mother the last few years of her life.
Patty was a gifted musician, being able to play the piano by ear. She also had a strong love for animals, especially her cats.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Billy Joe; and her daughter, Erin.
She leaves behind many cousins and friends.
As a memorial to Patty, donations may be made to the church.
