Patricia "Pat" Hobson, 59, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:30 to8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Pat was born Oct. 12, 1962, in Anaheim, Calif., the daughter of Roger and Patricia (Hanlon) Dabler. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Pat was united in marriage to George Richard Hobson on Jan. 20, 1984, in Cedar Rapids. She worked her way up the banking profession and became Market President for US Bank; Pat was well-respected in the banking community. She was a member and board member of the United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties, Iowa Women's Foundation, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, Corridor Women Connect, Women Lead Change, and the Boys & Girls Club. She was an active volunteer and contributor to many community organizations. Pat loved music, going to concerts, and watching Iowa Hawkeye athletics and she loved sharing these pastimes with her grandkids. Pat loved treating her grandkids to special experiences, from raising butterflies to baking. She was their biggest cheerleader, attending their events and showing her support. Pat made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Above all else, she was a best friend to Rick and an amazing mother and mamaw.
Survivors include her husband, Rick Hobson of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Sarah (Jack) Wikle of Cedar Rapids; son, Anthony (Jaymie) Hobson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Clayton, Nathen, Elvaray, Benjamin, Ryan, Sophia, Grace, Colton, Samantha and Parker; mother, Patricia Dabler; brothers, Roger Dabler of Cedar Rapids and Stacey (Allison) Dabler of Washington state; sister-in-law, Cecilia Carey of Shellsburg, Iowa; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Samantha in 2003; brother, Thomas Dabler; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kathleen "Katie" and Thomas Hobson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties or the Iowa Women's Foundation.
