Patricia Marie Foster, 72, died suddenly on Sept. 21 at her home in Cedar Rapids. She was born on Dec. 8, 1949, to the late Lola and Leroy Foster, the fourth of five children. She attended Taylor Elementary School, Roosevelt and Wilson Junior High Schools, and Jefferson High School. She earned her GED in 1984. After working for 20 years at Square D, Patty enrolled in the Kirkwood College culinary program where she earned an Associate Degree in 1997 with a Certificate in Baking in 1998. She worked as a baker at Elmcrest Country Club, Cottage Grove and The Views Assisted Living facilities, and at Coe College for Sodexo.
Beside her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Foster, and sister, Marsha Judd. Surviving are her brothers, David Foster (Bobbie) and Steven Foster; nieces, Tracy Havlik, Lisa Villwock, Tanya Havlik-Smith (Norma), Jennifer Winegardner (Paul) and Kelly Foster; and nephews, Dennis Foster Jr. and William Havlik Jr.; many cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Patty’s wish was for no funeral service and a private interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Patty’s memory to the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital, or the American Diabetes Association.
