Patricia Lyn Duer, 65, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Mercy Iowa City's hospice unit surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of life and informal finger-food potluck will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Park Lodge at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation or the Crisis Center of Iowa City.
Pat was born March 30, 1953, in San Rafael, Calif., the daughter of Robert and Charlsie (Jones) Schmid. She married David Duer on Dec. 6, 1981, in Iowa City. Pat was a registered nurse at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Branch for 19 years, retiring as director of nursing in 2009. She loved to knit, garden, cook and spend time with loved ones. Pat enjoyed dancing and was well known for speaking her mind.
Pat is survived by her husband, David Duer of Iowa City; her children, Sierra Soleil (Tina Yin) of Seattle, Wash., Emma (Zachary) Duer of Christiansburg, Va., and Jesse Duer of Austin, Texas; her two grandsons, Oscar and Linus Duer; and her mother-in-law, Rose Duer of Columbus, Ohio.
