Patricia R. Daringer, 88,
of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at
the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements. Pat's last request was that there be no services and her ashes placed in the same urn as her husband's.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Smith of Tama and Normandy of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Jon, and Steve (Sandra), all of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Jack (Donna) Myers of Moline, Ill., and Jerry of Booneville, Miss.; and a sister, Dixie Gilson of Cedar Rapids. She also is survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and four brothers.
Pat was born March 25, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Milford and Zola Carney Myers. She married Norman "Jonny" Daringer on Oct. 27, 1949, in Iowa City. Jonny passed away in 2012.
Pat worked at Rockwell Collins and retired from there in 1985 after more than 32 of service. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gambling, and traveling with family and her grandchildren in the United States and several trips to Europe with her husband. Pat never focused on the bad or sad that happened. She never gave up or in, always had those bright blue eyes and a happy smile.
"The family would like to thank Dr. Beer and the Hospice House of Mercy for their support and care."
