Patricia Ann Carder, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Sharon United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Moore. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Mark (Annette) Carder and Kathy (Larry) Clinton, both of Cedar Rapids; brother, James (Darlene) Orton of Salina, Kan.; sister-in-law, Barb Orton of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, James (Chrissy) Carder, Cheryl (Cory Grundmeyer) Carder, McKenzie Carder and Micheal (Liz Frazier) Bos; two stepgrandchildren, Chelsea Clinton and Shane Clinton; three great-grandchildren, Allyssa Carder, Kaden Bos and Hunter Clinton; and a great-granddaughter on the way, Kaylee Carder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Charles Carder; brother, William Orton; and sister, Elizabeth Kasner.
Patricia was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of James "Roy" and Viola (Nevins) Orton. She graduated from Wilson High School, Cedar Rapids. In 1955, Patricia married Gordon Carder.
She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Patricia was a wonderful seamstress, who loved to sew. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and TOPS. Patricia loved church activities, but most of all loved her family, especially time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
