She graduated from high school with the class of 1954, in Quasqueton. On March 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Sylvan Junior Colton at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1981. Pat worked 26 years for Independence Community Schools as a cook and later as the food service director. She retired in 1995. She remained active camping, gardening, dancing, playing cards and doing crafts until her health began to fail. Most of all she missed cooking for groups of people.
