PATRICIA ANN HOWIE BRIMMER
Coralville
After a 6 1/2-year-battle with breast cancer, Patricia Ann Howie Brimmer passed away at the Mercy Iowa City Hospice Unit at 11:09 a.m. Sept. 29, 2016, surrounded by family. She resided in Coralville.
She is survived by her brother, Steve Howie; sister-in-law, Debbie Howie; brother, Douglas Howie; sister, Elizabeth (Howie) Moore; brother-in-law, Kim Moore; nephew, Colin Moore; niece, Jessica (Moore) Vickers; and great-nephews, Alexander and Harrison Vickers.
Patricia was born in Monticello, Iowa, on Feb. 20, 1951. Her parents were Donald Lavern Howie, M.D., of Monticello and Lucille Stange Howie of Osage. Early on she moved frequently as her father was in the military. When she was in the fourth grade, she landed in the Washington, D.C., area, where she stayed the majority of her life. Pat married Earle Brimmer in 1982. In 2006, she and her husband moved to the Iowa City area to be closer to her sister and family.
Pat got a job at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a move coordinator for capital management in 2006, and transitioned into other jobs within capital management. She made many friends and acquaintances throughout the hospital in the course of her work, where she touched many people's lives and they touched hers.
A special thanks to all the staff at Mercy Iowa City Hospice and Home Choice who helped Pat's last days be caring and comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to breast cancer research or Iowa City Hospice.
