PATRICIA BIDERMAN
Mount Vernon
Patricia Ann Biderman, 76, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, died Aug. 4, 2021, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, under the wonderful care of the Hospice Unit. At her request, the family held a private celebration of her life.
Pat was born Feb. 8, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Ben and Eleanore (Pospisil) Biderman. Pat worked for many years at Petersen Harned & Von Maur in Cedar Rapids. She attended Lindenwood College and later Kirkwood Community College studying Landscape Horticulture. She worked at Earl May Garden Center for many years. Known as "Aunt Pat" to her loving five nephews, she spent many summers playing Risk and other board and card games with them. She also took two of her nephews on a tour of Europe when they were 15 and 16. It was the time of their lives. She later traveled to Todi, Italy, to attend the 10-year wedding vow renewal of one of her nephews.
Aunt Pat loved to garden and feed the birds and squirrels at her home at the Upper Palisades near Palisades Kepler State Park. She was an amateur historian and was featured in several newspaper articles that discussed the history of the Upper Palisades and, in particular, the old hotel that stood on the grounds for many years. She also picked up the kolache and other Czech baking traditions and was helping nephews learn the secrets as well. Aunt Pat lived in a house at the Upper Palisades, a house that was literally wheeled onto the property with horses in the early 1900s.
Aunt Pat will be missed by her family. Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Susan Biderman and Gary and Rose Biderman; and her five nephews, Chris (Kathy), Ted (Denna), Mike (Carolyn), Martin (Rachelle) and Jonathan (Louise) Biderman.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hospice Foundation of America.
