Patricia Ann (McCarville) Ratz, 85, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with Father Mark Murphy presiding. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Patricia was born on July 16, 1936, in Lourdes, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late, Leo and Theresa (Reynolds) McCarville. On June 15, 1957, Patricia married the love of her life, Donald Ratz, in Cresco, Iowa. She loved going to the casinos, she was an avid fan of college basketball and the Chicago Cubs. She also loved playing cards, sitting by a fire and spending time with friends and family.
Those left to cherish Patricia's memory are her children, Paul (Jana) Ratz of Naperville, Ill., Julie (Mike) Krause of Chandler, Ariz., and James (Karen) Ratz of Hiawatha, Iowa; her grandchildren, Courtney (Joseph) Gryczewski, Colin, Colten, Jake and Jordan; her siblings, David (Donita) McCarville of Waterloo, Iowa, Dale (Becky) McCarville of Cedar Rapids and Jean Ann (Bob) Milne of Cedar Rapids.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; and her siblings, Leland, Donald and infant brother Robert McCarville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Ed and Joan Hemphill Inpatient Hospice Unit, the UnityPoint-St. Luke's Foundation or the American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital, especially nurse Karen for all of the love and support that they have shown Patricia while she was in their care.
