Patricia A. Willems, 85, of Independence, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. David Beckman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; sons, Jim (Liz) Willems of Dubuque, Dave (Sue) Willems of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Tom (Angie) Willems of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Somers, Katie Willems, Steve Willems, Brian Willems, Mitch Willems and Kaitlynn Willems; great-grandchild, Lydia Somers; and brother, Ron (Dina) Lievens of Olathe, Kan. Also surviving are several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Vince Causemaker.
Patricia Ann Lievens was born March 15, 1932, in Annawan, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Rose (VandeVoorde) Lievens. On Nov. 18, 1952, she married Robert R. Willems in Atkinson, Ill. Pat worked at Security State Bank and then was bookkeeper at St. John's Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, where she was active in the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Prayer Shawl Group and the funeral choir. Pat also was a member of the Chautauqua Literary Club, Independence Senior Center Line Dancers and Red Hat Society, and also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Memorial donations may be given in her name to St. John's Catholic Church.
