Patricia A. “Pat” Owens, 86, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at the Washington County Hospital after a decline in health.
Celebration of life services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Calling hours will begin 1 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will take place at the Cambrian Cemetery in rural Louisa County. Memorials have been established for the Washington County Hospital Foundation or Blank Children’s Hospital – Books for Harlyn. Pat was born July 28, 1936, in rural Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Ella (Havel) Fisher. She attended Farmer’s Country School and later graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1954. Pat received her Teaching Certificate from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Daryl “Dusty” Owens on July 5, 1958, at the United Methodist Church of Crawfordsville.
Pat and Daryl lived south of Cotter, Iowa; in Crawfordsville, Iowa; and east of Ainsworth, Iowa; before moving to Washington in 1993. She taught grade school in Riverside for two years and taught four years in Cotter, Iowa. She assisted her husband with the family farm operation for many years. Pat was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church and belonged to the Braden Club in Crawfordsville and the County Line Club in Ainsworth. She played basketball while in high school and she continued her love of the sport by watching basketball on TV. She was a dedicated Alumnus of Crawfordsville High School, rarely missing an Alumni banquet. Family was Pat’s main focus in life. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and loved attending their events.
She is survived by her husband, Daryl “Dusty” Owens of Washington, Iowa; son, Mike (Teresa) Owens of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; daughter, Lynn (Craig) Wright of Brighton, Iowa; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Hazelett of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Wendy (Ted) Greiner of Keota, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Stacy (Jared) Holtgrewe, Rachel (Chris) Watters, Amanda (Tyler) Russell, Macy (Chris) Hallinan, Brett (Hayley) Wright, Tyler Hazelett, Austin Hazelett, Garrett Greiner and Ella Greiner; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; great-granddaughter, Harlyn Dusty Holtgrewe; and three brothers, Keith, Fred and Jerry Fisher.
