Pastor Carol Ann Mart (Vileta) was born on December 7, 1946, and left us on July 7, 2024. Her memorial service will be held at Buffalo United Methodist Church, 1000 30th St. NE, Cedar Rapids on July 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of sending flowers, cards and shared memories can be sent to 2511 Indiana St. SW, Cedar Rapids IA. 52404
Carol is survived by her sons, Lance (Tracy) and Al, her granddaughter Bailey, Gene (Lea) Vileta and their family Josh (Emma) and Ari, Dillion, Saige and Colsen.
Carol was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, coworker and pastor. She was kind to people and animals, and she had a lively and humorous spirit. She fiercely loved God, her family, her friends, and her pets.
After retiring from Rockwell Collins in 2001, she found time to pursue creative hobbies and share her crafts. Carol was passionate about animal rescue and fostered dogs through Fur Fun Dog Rescue. Carol felt called to become a pastor and served at Clarence United Methodist Church where she served 9 years ending in 2019, when she retired. In 2021, she was summoned back for an appointment as the pastor at Buffalo United Methodist in Cedar Rapids. Her death will be deeply felt by all the lives that she touched.
Through several health struggles Carol maintained her positive attitude and sense of humor. Her faith and strength helped her overcome challenging times, and these qualities also made her the person many sought to have by their side during their most difficult moments. In a weekly devotional, she wrote, "Just know that God is your biggest cheerleader." Carol was a cheerleader for many people and animals. Many have been touched by her heartfelt words, actions, and great love. Carol will be missed and remembered as a strong, resilient, and selfless woman, always ready to give a caring smile and the warmest of hugs.
