Parrott, Ramona L. (Brown)

Ramona L. (Brown) Parrott, 51, of Marion, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, following her 14 year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Life Tabernacle Church, 4187 Dane Rd., Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ramona's memory.

Ramona was born Dec. 16, 1958, daughter of Dale Brown and LaVina Augustine Brown. She grew up in the Iowa City area and attended City High school in Iowa City. In 2005, she married Ralph Parrott in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together, Ralph and Ramona made Marion their home. She enjoyed many activities including making jewelry and greeting cards as well as other crafty projects. She was devoted to her friends and especially her family, never judging people and always accepting one for who they were.

Ramona's family includes her husband, Ralph Parrott; daughter, JuneAnne Brown of Iowa City; son, Jacob Dant of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Marie Owen of North Liberty; brothers, Dale Brown of Council Bluffs, and LaFay Brown of Pacific Junction; mother, LaVina Brown of North Liberty; granddaughter, Mariah Dant; a dear friend, Denise Miller, as well as four uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dale “Lucky” Brown Sr.; and grandparents, LaFay C. and Gustine M. Augustine and Harlie O. and Pearl H. Brown.
