Parker, Louise
Louise Parker
Louise was born July 6, 1921, at her grandmother's home in Liscomb, Iowa, to Roscoe and Winnie Fiscus and stepped into heaven Nov. 23, 2011, in McHenry, Ill., surrounded by her family. She was welcomed at heaven's gate by Jesus her Savior; son, Kent; parents, Roscoe and Winnie; sisters, Ruth Small and Dorothy Bryngelson; brother, Delos Fiscus; and many other friends and family, including those very special friends in the “bridge gang.”
Louise graduated from Conrad, Iowa, High School and the Paris Academy School of Beauty in Cedar Rapids. She was working at the Lovely Lady Salon in Cedar Rapids when she met the love of her life, Roy Parker. They married Aug. 17, 1941, in Nashua, Iowa, in the Little Brown Church. Roy and Louise made their home in Cedar Rapids until 2007, when they moved to McHenry, Ill.
Louise is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Bob (Vickie) Parker of Johnsburg, Il.; daughter, Jane (Nat) Broughton of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Parker of Johnsburg, Ill., Katie (Mark) MacMillan of Antioch, Ill., Chip Broughton of Newport, R.I., and Michael Broughton of Dallas, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Parker, Ben and Abbie Stillwell, and Zachary and Kelsie MacMillan.
Louise was an amazing wife, mother and friend, always putting her family and others first. Roy and Louise spent many wonderful hours of fellowship with the fun-loving members of the “bridge gang.” She loved traveling; she and Roy traveled extensively throughout the United States. She was a member of First Christian Church where she served as kindergarten teacher and touched young hearts for many years. After her children were older, she served children in the Arthur grade school cafeteria.
Her beautiful smile and sweet nature will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Charitable donations may be made in her memory to the March of Dimes at or Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois at
