Parker, Harry J. 'Pug' Jr.
Harry J. “Pug” Parker Jr., 82, of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Private family burial.
Survivors include three sons, John (Susan) Parker of Morrisville, N.C., Joseph (Leslie) Parker of Cedar Rapids, and Jerry (Eileen) Parker of Walford; five grandchildren, Kurt, Karissa, Devin, Molly and Amy Parker; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Hannah Parker; a sister, Genevieve (James) Hallock of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Bob (Shirley) Parker of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; two sons, Jeff and Jim; his parents; three brothers, Don, John and Charles; and three sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Parker, Margaret “Mag” Roszell and Jeanette Parker.
Harry was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Marion, the son of Harry J. and Abbie (Bubla) Parker Sr. He served in the Army Air Force. On April 23, 1955, Harry was united in marriage to Kathleen Bray at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She died Sept. 29, 2005. He was a field technician for IBM Corporation for 37 ½ years.
