Park, Linde Ludwig
Linde Ludwig Park, 86, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013. A memorial service will be held a 11 a.m. June 1, 2013, at Morgan Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A private burial will be held after the service at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
Linde is survived by her husband, Thomas Hardie Park; son, Albert Hardie Park (Holly); daughter, Helen Park Jameson (David); and two grandsons, Gabe and Kaleb Park.
Linde was born to Albert and Helene Ludwig and grew up in Regensburg, Germany. Linde earned her Nursing degree in Munich, Germany, and was one of the first nursing exchange students to come to the USA after World War II. She married Hardie Park on Sept. 15, 1956, in Hardie's hometown of Columbia, Tenn. Linde became a U.S. citizen in 1961. Hardie and Linde and their children, Albert and Helen (Bee) moved to Mount Vernon in 1963, where Hardie served on the faculty at Cornell College. Later when their children left the nest, Linde worked as a receptionist at the Cornell Commons.
Linde was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Inge Ludwig Hitzler (Walter).
A memorial fund has been established for the Southern Poverty Law Center in Linde's name at Mount Vernon Bank.
