Owens Jr., Eugene A.
Eugene A. Owens Jr., 67, of Alburnett, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Eugene Albert Owens Jr. was born July 30, 1943, to Eugene Sr. and Jean (Bex) Owens in Ashland, Wis. He was united in marriage to Barbara Henderson on Sept. 26, 1964, in Marion, Iowa. Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from Terex Manufacturing after 37 years of service.
Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Harley and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; sons, Christopher (Nicole) Owens of West Branch and Matthew and Micheal Owens, both of Marion; sister, Annesley (Gary) Gunderson of Spirit Lake; brothers-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Henderson of Marion, Steven Henderson of Toddville, Doug (Maureen) Henderson of Marion and Donald Halstead of Brandon; a granddaughter, Peyton Owens; several nieces and nephews; special niece, Elizabeth Walker; and great-nephew, Kaleb.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
