Owen, Rev. Donald L. 'Don'
The Rev. Donald L. “Don” Owen of Menomonee Falls, Wis., died Monday, March 29, 2010, at his residence at age 74. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, Wis. The Rev. Jim Rand will preside. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Irene (Breuer) Owen. After high school in Cedar Rapids, Don served his country for three years in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to graduate from Coe College in 1960, and later graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1964. Don was ordained a Presbyterian minister on June 28, 1964. Devoted to his ministry, he served in several communities in Iowa before spending 10 years as pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Shawano, Wis. In 1982, Don was called to Faith United Presbyterian Church in Tinley Park, Ill., where he served as pastor until retirement in 1998.
Don spent much of his free time reading theological materials. He had a lifelong interest of railroading, and enjoyed playing board games and cards with family and friends.
Don will be deeply missed by his children, Jeffrey S. (Sally) Owen of Germantown, Wis., and Michelle L. Ramirez of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Sophia and Lorenzo Ramirez of Texas; and his sister, Darlene Kuo of Irvine, Calif. He is also survived by his former wife, Doris; a niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Rehder; and his parents.
