Overley, Miriam Rogers
Miriam Rogers Overley of Cedar Rapids died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are children, Janice Overley-Olsen, Joanne Mores, Charlene Longino and Charles A. Overley Jr. Miriam and Charles were blessed with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Miriam was born to Joel E. and Inez Rogers in Houston, Texas on Sept. 21, 1911. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Overley, a chemist with Swift & Co.
Miriam was a lifelong teacher in the Chicago area ending her career at Faulkner School for Girls. Miriam taught chemistry, math, and home economics. Miriam was a graduate of Coe College. She then obtained her master's degree at Kansas State, where she was a member of Kappa Delta.
Donations are requested to be directed to St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids.
