Otten, Audrey P.
Audrey P. Otten, 89, of Oxford Junction, died Friday morning, April 15, 2011, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. A celebration of her life service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Hoover Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Audrey Pauline Schuman was born Jan. 28, 1922, in rural Anamosa, Iowa, to Harold and Zelma (Betzer) Schuman. She married Dick Merrill. She then married William “Sandy” Sanford; he preceded her in death. She later married Ben Otten in Nashua, Iowa; he preceded her in death.
Audrey enjoyed gardening, horses, the outdoors, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her five children, Bobbie Twitty of Bettendorf, Jeanie Williams of Lisbon, Jannet Grunnder of Waynesville, Mo., Tom Otten of Oxford Junction and Tammy Clark of Davenport; a stepson, Ben Otten Jr. of Dubuque; 23 grandchildren; one sister, Donna Balenta of Center Point; and a sister-in-law, Millie Schuman of Mount Vernon.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Kenneth, Bill and Jack; and a stepdaughter, Dorothy Snow.
Memorials are preferred.
