Ostrander, LaDonna Lynn (Roberts)
LaDonna Lynn (Roberts) Ostrander, 53, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, lost a courageous and hard fought battle with lung cancer Feb. 16, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Her body was cremated. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at 257 West Cemetery Rd., Fairfax.
Survivors include her husband, Jerrold; children, Angela (Mitch) Sherwood of Fairfax, Iowa, Duane Olson of Kansas City, Mo., Joel Blaylock of Cedar Rapids, Leslie (Teresa) Blaylock of Winona, Miss.; sisters, Neta (Mike) McMahon of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Denny) Higgerson of Cedar Rapids and Colleen (Robert) Leaf of Hazleton; an uncle, Alvie “Junior” Howard of Houston, Texas; and multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Evelyn Roberts.
LaDonna was born March 19, 1957, in Twenty Nine Palms, Calif. As a toddler, her family moved to Iowa, eventually settling in the Cedar Rapids area. She was married to David Olson in 1972 and they had two children, Angela and Duane. LaDonna and David eventually divorced and she moved to Winona, Miss., where she met Gene Blaylock. They were married and they had two children, Joel and Leslie. Gene later passed away. LaDonna then met and later married Jerrold Ostrander, with whom she traveled the country with and shared many great experiences.
LaDonna was a musical entertainer, and lived and performed in various cities across the country. She lived in Nashville, Tenn., where she recorded a country music record and performed live at the Grand Ole Opry, which was a dream come true for her.
She will always be remembered for her love of music.
