Osten, Vicky Sue
Vicky Sue Osten, 43, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, in Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Graveside services: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Osten; children, Lisa Osten and Patrick Osten, both of Cedar Rapids; mother, Janna Phelps of Cedar Rapids; father, William Phelps of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Teresa (Okie) Jones and Joanna Phelps, all of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Brian (Mary) Phelps of Cedar Rapids.
Vicky was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Lee Phelps; and grandparents, Thomas C. Phelps, Marie M. Phelps, Gerhard F. Tuetken and Minnie Fousek.
Born March 4, 1967, in Iowa City, Vicky was the daughter of William and Janna (Tuetken) Phelps. She attended North-Linn Community Schools and Jefferson High School. On June 29, 1997, she was united in marriage to Jerry Osten in Swisher, Iowa. For 25 years she worked as “the best damn waitress” that Perkins Restaurant ever had.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to the casinos and genealogy. She loved children and was a second mother to Austin Kisling and a godmother to Garret and Hank Smith.
