Ortberg, Douglas D.
Douglas D. Ortberg, 59, of Cedar Rapids, left to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna; children, Kendall (Jay) McFarland, Hope Armstrong, Todd Coe, Damian Ortberg and Joshua (Melia) Ortberg; brothers, Duane Ortberg and David (partner Doug) Ortberg; his first wife, Ann Asquith; many grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darold and Dean Ortberg; grandparents, Darrell and Vivian O'Brien and Dick and Erma Dichtelmiller; and uncle, Dennis O'Brien.
Doug was born June 6, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, to Alavah and Juanita Ortberg. He married Deanna Armstrong there on June 6, 1977. He was employed as a diesel mechanic for F&W Mack Trucks. Doug loved fishing with Steve and his dog, Brandy, working on car engines and fixing things. He was a member of the O.M.R.A. Association.
