Orr, Kathryn J.
Kathryn J. Orr, 85, of Onslow, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at Clover Ridge Place, Maquoketa. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, with Pastor Bob Wessels officiating. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming. Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming.
Kathryn Jane Waggoner was born July 26, 1924, in rural Olin, Iowa, to Harold and Eliza (Weers) Waggoner. She graduated from Onslow High School in 1942 and briefly attended Business College in Cedar Rapids. She married Lester S. Orr on June 24, 1944, at the Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. He died March 18, 2008.
She farmed with her husband in rural Onslow. She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. She loved gardening and doing crosswords.
She is survived by three children, Darlene (Larry) Daniels, of Pekin, Ill., Joyce (Allen) Bartels, of Harvard, Neb., and
Thomas (Jennifer) Orr of Monmouth, Iowa; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Linda Orr of Lena, Ill., and Claudette Orr-Bryant of Desloge, Mo.; a sister, Norma Brady of Anamosa; a brother, Paul (Lucille) Waggoner of Wyoming; and sister-in-law, Donna Waggoner of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents; two sons, Donald and Leland; one granddaughter, Sarah Bartels; and a brother, Galen.
Memorials are preferred.
