Ormsby, Joyce M.
Joyce M. Ormsby, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, conducted by Father Tom McDermott and Father Dennis Juhl, with visitation one hour before service time. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Scripture wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Bob (Julie) Ormsby of Indianola, Mary (Mike) Pinski of Goodyear, Ariz., Karen (Jim) Ratz of Hiawatha, Teresa (Greg) Ortmann of Cedar Rapids and Laurie Deinhammer of Apple Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Noah, Chad, Ehren, Marissa, Jake, Jordan, Kiyla, Lindsey, Briauna, Molly, Mitchell, Kelsey, Justin and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Alana, Jaxon and Ezra; and siblings, Lucille Borseth of Cresco, Orvald Ott of Fairbank and Francis Ott of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ervin, Florian, Herb, John and Melvin; and three sisters, Irene, Tootie and her twin Janice.
Joyce was born July 2, 1939, in Cresco, Iowa, daughter of John and Mary (Junge) Ott. She married Robert J. Ormsby on April 15, 1961, in Waterloo, Iowa. He later died in 2009. She adored her children and grandchildren, attending all their events. Joyce was a faith-filled woman.
She loved baseball. Her two favorite teams were the Xavier Saints and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed quilting, gambling and playing cards.
Joyce dedicated over 23 years as a secretary for the Holy Family Schools - St. Ludmila School. Joyce was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church, St. Monica's Circle, was active in Cub Scouts and was a member of the Resurrection Choir at St. Ludmila.
