Opal Marie Harrison, Opal Marie Harrison
Opal Marie Harrison, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at the Meth-Wick Woodlands.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Dale Katcher officiating. Interment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday at the chapel from 11 to 1 p.m.
Survivors include her children; Donald (Carolyn) Harrison of Mason City, Linda Lou (Ken) Miller of Marion, Charlotte (Rev. Dale) Katcher of Ottawa, Ill.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband who passed in 1999; 3 brothers and a sister.
Opal Marie Calef was born November 2, 1918 in Powersville, Mo. the daughter of Charles & Eva (Greer) Calef. She married Lewis S. Harrison on August 30, 1940 in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Brighton, Albia, Fremont, Newton and Cedar Rapids. She received her elementary education at University Park, graduated high school from Oskaloosa, and she attended William Penn College.
Jesus Christ was the center of Opal's life. She attended Noelridge Baptist Church and First Church of the Open Bible. Opal enjoyed playing the piano and organ and attending Bible studies, as well as gardening, flowers, shopping, Christian Women's Club, and Aglow International.
Memorials may be directed in Opal's name to Hospice of Mercy in care of Linda Miller 1346 11th St. Marion, IA 52302.
Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
