Opal Maxine Brink-Knapp, 94, of Marion, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. The Rev. Jim May will officiate. Burial will be in Hazel Knoll Cemetery. Opal Maxine Wink was born May 12, 1924, in Anamosa, the daughter of Arthur and Aletha (Covington) Wink. She married Marvin Brink on Sept. 13, 1940, at the United Methodist Church, Anamosa. Together they owned and operated their own farm in the Martelle area and later near Matsell Bridge in Linn County. They retired in 1980. During this time she also worked as a cook at the Anamosa Hospital and later at the Monticello Care Center. Marvin died in 2007. On Oct. 26, 2008, she married Earl Myron Knapp in Troy Mills, Iowa, and they farmed near Troy Mills. The couple moved to Marion in 2011. Earl died in 2012.
She enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, dancing and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren. She was well-known for her famous egg noodles. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas season.
She is remembered by her children, Jim Brink, Anamosa, Gene (Linda) Brink, Anamosa, Duaine (Kathy) Brink, Rochester, Minn., Pam (Dewayne) Warthen, Martelle, and Doug Brink, Anamosa; 17 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Wink.
