Onalee V. Holmes, 82, of Marion, formerly of Alburnett, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, where a parish vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home by Deacon Dennis Ternes. Private family inurnment: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Prairieburg.

Survivors include her children, Douglas (Marcia) Lawrence of Marion, Bruce (Theresa) Lawrence of Marion, Brian (Duane) Lawrence of Sacramento, Calif., Camilia Lawrence (Steve) of Marion and Leonard Lawrence of Alburnett; 13 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and her brother, August Smith of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard "Mike"; her late husband, Vaughn; two children, Brad Lawrence and Brenda Holmes; her grandson, Clint Lawrence; sister, Jeanie Holub; and her sister-in-law, Peg Smith.

Onalee was born Aug. 16, 1933, to August and Norma (Whiting) Smith. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1951, and then married Leonard Lawrence. After his death in 1963, Onalee married Vaughn Holmes in 1964. She was employed at Cryovac for 23 years. After retiring, she came to work as a hostess at Murdoch Funeral Home for many years.
