Oltmanns, David
David Oltmanns, 54, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids and Anamosa, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 in Melbourne. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with interment in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Finger will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon of West Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, Edward (Grace) Oltmanns of Anamosa, and Robert (Joan) Oltmanns of Center Junction; three sisters, Evelyn Blattner of Blairstown, Carol Oltmanns of Anamosa, and Jacqueline Lovell of Central City; his brother and sisters-in-law, Shirley Tobiason of Cedar Rapids, Berhard and Gary Tobiason of Monticello, and Sharlene (Jeffrey) Soper of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Christoper Soper; a brother-in-law, Russell Blattner; and his mother and father-in-law, Lyle and Marcella Tobiason.
David Eugene Oltmanns was born Dec. 22, 1956, at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Emil E. and Gertrude Ann Wise Oltmanns. He graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools with the class of 1975. David had farmed the family farm, worked as a truck driver, worked on pipeline construction and sold Stanley Products. Before moving to Florida in 2008, he had been a driver for a rehabilitation teacher with the Iowa Department for the Blind. David married Sharon Tobiason on July 3, 1991, at Las Vegas, Nev.
David loved going to the Jones County Fair, the Iowa Hawkeyes, car racing, going to Disney, reading westerns, dinning out and getting together with family and friends.
