Olson, Warren
A memorial fund has been established for the Mid Prairie Foundation, The Kalona 1st Responder's or the Kalona Volunteer Fire Department. Warren Olson died unexpectedly at his home on March 14, 2012.
Warren Luther Olson was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Luther and Helen (Ingmanson) Olson. He graduated from Olds High School in 1951, served in the United States Army for two years, and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1957. He was a member of the Swedesburg Lutheran Church, the Kalona Optimist Club, Iowa State Education Association, Olds American Legion and the Kalona Golf Club. Warren was a retired member of the Kalona Volunteer Fire Department. He taught science and coached at Marengo High School for three years and junior high science and coaching at Mid Prairie for 28 years, retiring in 1988. Warren enjoyed playing golf, having coffee with friends and supporting Mid Prairie, the Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye athletics.
Survivors include his daughter, Renee (Jerry) Villareal of Plainfield, Ill.; two granddaughters, Victoria Tucker and Catherine (Rex) Espinosa; four grandsons, Ethan and Noah Tucker and Max and Sam Espinosa; two nieces, Annette Champagne of Rock Island, Ill., and Julie Olson of Chicago.
Preceding Warren in death were his parents; wife, Rosemary in July 2011; one grandson, Chris Tucker; two brothers, Leland and Harold Olson; and one sister, Phyllis Olson.
