Olson, Larry Guy
Larry Guy Olson, 55, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 16, 2012, in his Cedar Rapids home following a short illness with lung cancer.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Nick) Larma of Elmhurst, Ill., and Kelly (Scott) Morris of Clermont, Fla.; a son, Spencer Olson of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Keaton, Avery and Liam Larma; and a brother, Tony Olson of Wapello.
He was preceded in death by his parents,Francis and Guy Olson.
Larry was born Nov. 8, 1956, in the Des Moines area and was adopted as a small child by Guy and Fran Olson. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1975. When Larry was a young adult he was fortunate to be located by his biological siblings. Of these siblings, he is survived by three sisters and one brother; and was preceded in death by two brothers and his biological parents. He was married in Keystone, Iowa to Kim Dunker in 1982; they later divorced. During his adult life he worked as a printer and in trucking. Most recently he worked for McMurrin Trucking until his cancer forced him to retire.
Larry loved the water and enjoyed fishing, boating and visiting Door County, Wis., whenever he could.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Larry's birthday, Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
