Olson, Asle B. 'Bud'
Asle B. “Bud” Olson, 93, of Fulton, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, in Mercy North Medical Center, Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded and a committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa. Following the committal service, a fellowship luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at Brick City Bar & Grill, Clermont.
Asle was born on April 27, 1916, in Ossian, Iowa, the son of Lucas and Emma (Askelson) Olson. He married Elaine Christensen on Nov. 4, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa. He worked as a millwright at Rath Meat Packing Plant in Waterloo for 38 years, retiring in 1978. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, his horses and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Bud is survived by his wife, Elaine of Fulton, Ill.; two daughters, Judith Power of Garden Plain, Ill., and Cynthia Olson of Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren, Tracy, Brian, Lori, Christina, Sara and Michael; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Belva Lantz of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis in 2004; a granddaughter, Elaina in 2008; and three brothers.
