Oldfather, David C.

David C. Oldfather, 55, of Hiawatha, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Private inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit one half-hour before the service.

Survivors include his sons, Jason (Laura) Oldfather and Ryan (Kelly) Oldfather; his new granddaughter, Emily, all of Cedar Rapids; his parents, Paul and Jeannette Oldfather of North Liberty; his fiancee, Janice Svejda of Hiawatha; siblings, Dan Oldfather of Morgan City, La., Cindy (Kirk) McCollough of Webster City, and Lori Oldfather of Lodi, Calif.; and his parents-in-law, Howard and Dixie Stinger of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Dave was born Sept. 2, 1955, in Spokane, Wash. He married Stephanie Stinger in Cedar Rapids on March 5, 1976. She died in 2001. Dave loved to camp at his parent's farm, play darts and Golden Tee. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of the Hawkeyes and cooking. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam. Dave was employed by Pro Construction and was proud of his last project - the Jaycees building.
