Ohligschlager, Joseph Edward
Joseph Edward Ohligschlager, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Klein officiating. Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m.
Joe is survived by Corinne, his wife of 64 years; a son, Matthew (Leslie) Ohligschlager of Villa Hills, Ky.; and two granddaughters, Erin and Kate.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Henry and George Ohligschlager.
Joe was born May 21, 1923, in Oelwein, to William and Sabina (Keegan) Ohligschlager. He graduated from the University of Iowa, with a B.S. degree. He married Corinne Stover on Oct. 1, 1946, in Oelwein. Joe first worked for Allis-Chalmers and later worked in contract administration for Rockwell-Collins for over 19 years, retiring in 1985.
Joe was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He loved flower gardening and music. Joe and Corinne loved to go ballroom dancing.
