Joan O'Hara, 81, of Oelwein, died Thursday morning, June 20, 2013, at Oelwein Health Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. C.D.A. Rosary: 4 p.m. and Parish Scripture Service at 7 p.m. both on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

Josephine Ann “Joan” Meyer was born June 24, 1931, at rural Aurora. Joan was united in marriage to Donald James O'Hara on Oct. 24, 1953 in Oelwein. She was a homemaker and also worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone for 34 years, starting in Oelwein as an operator and retiring from the Waterloo facility in December of 1983.
Joan is survived by her husband, Don O'Hara of Oelwein; children, Colleen (Doug) Hemesath of Hudson, Dennis (Julie) O'Hara of Cedar Falls and Erin (Phil) Perry of Oelwein; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marguerite Henke and Mary Jean Faust.
