Oftelie, Sally J.
Sally J. Oftelie, 83, Amana, formerly of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Colonial Manor in Middle Amana after a long illness. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. The Rev. Mosher will officiate. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley; a daughter, Rebecca (Ralph) Lewis of Amana; two sons, Richard (Linda) of Aurora, Minn., and James (Sara) of Ames; and a brother, James (Fran) Erskine of Rosewood, Calif. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jessica, Bonnie Belle, Erin and Daniel Oftelie, Sarah (Brent) Morrison, Shana (Sheldon) Strimple and David Lewis; and one great-grandchild, Tristin Trey Strimple.
She was preceded death by her parents; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Bonnie.
Sally was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Minn., the daughter of Bruce and Sarah (Hasler) Erskine. She married Stanley A. Oftelie on July 22, 1950, in Grand Rapids. Sally was a purchasing agent for Camcar Manufacturing in Decorah for over 20 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of Eastern Star and Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. She enjoyed working cross word puzzles, traveling to Texas for the winters and especially the time shared with her friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to the Colonial Manor in Middle Amana in Sally's name.
