Oehler, Patricia E.
Patricia E. Oehler, 86, died Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 2011, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, where she had resided since October 2006.Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a. m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory in Manchester. They may also call one hour before mass at the church on Wednesday. There will be a Catholic Daughter Rosary at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed immediately by a Scripture service.Interment: St. Patrick's Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Patricia Eileen was born on March 17, 1925, at Ryan, Iowa, to Walter and Olive (Kirschbaum) Gaffney. She was raised and educated in the area graduating from St. John's Catholic High School in 1943.
Patricia was united in marriage to Dorance B. Oehler on April 17, 1948, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Their union blessed them with seven children. Together they farmed east of Ryan until 1968, when they moved to Manchester. Patricia also worked many years as a rural mail courier.
Patricia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and the Ryan Legion Auxillary.
Survivors include her children, Susan (David) Brown of Stanwood, Patrick (Diane) Oehler of Cedar Falls, Michael Oehler of Marion, Stephen (special friend Penny Wilson) Oehler of Winthrop, Ellen (Anthony “Grover”) Goldsmith of Manchester, Mark (Lynn) Oehler of Cedar Rapids, and Chris (Brenda) Oehler of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy O'Brien, of Marion.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Dorance on Nov. 20, 2007; two brothers, Joseph and James Gaffney; and three sisters, Jane Ann Tow, Phyllis Miller and Frances Stevenson.
