O'Connor, Margaret 'Maggie'
Margaret “Maggie” O'Connor, 63, of Coggon, died Monday, April 4, 2011, in her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. John Catholic Church in Coggon by Father Wayne Droessler. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Coggon. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scripture service at 4 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.
Survivors include her children, Shanah (Gene) Zastera of Oshkosh, Wis., Chris Carlson of San Angelo, Texas, Monica (Matt) Roscoe of Missoula, Mont., and Catherine (Matt) Burnette of Coralville; four grandchildren, Lydia and Ryan Zastera, Ruby Roscoe and Issabella Lenton; and brothers, John (Carolyn) O'Connor of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Leslie) O'Connor of Center Point and Kevin O'Connor of Cambridge.
Maggie was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Manchester, the daughter of Reynold “Bud” and Frances (Kehoe) O'Connor. She graduated from Coggon High School and Mount Mercy College, receiving the Catherine McAuley Award. She worked as a social worker for the Department of Human Services for 30 years, retiring in 2008, and was past president of the Local U.E. Union. She was an avid ballroom dancer.
Maggie was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Coggon. Her Catholic faith in God sustained her life which was inspirational for her family and friends.
