June L. Olson was born June 27, 1915, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Ann (McCune) Olson. She was united in marriage to William P. O'Brien on Jan. 4, 1933, in Iowa City. The couple farmed for many years in the Cosgrove area, until moving into Iowa City in 1975. She also worked at Mercy in Iowa City for many years. June was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City, and had been a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove, when they farmed near there also. She was one of the ladies of the Windham Homemakers social circle. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and her artwork in painting, but most dear to her was her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and now her great-great-granddaughter, these were the twinkle in her eye!
Her family includes her children, Marilyn Palmer of Windsor, Mo., Karen Leming (Brian) of Las Vegas, Nev., Dale O'Brien (Shirley) of Iowa City, Cheryl Stevens (Randy) of Iowa City, Karleen O'Brien of Iowa City, and Joe O'Brien (Brenda Miller) of Solon; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Ruth Potter of Iowa City; and a brother, Roy Olson (Marie) of Oxford.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three daughters, Audrey, Barbara, and Eleanor; son, Darrell; sister, Valta Donham; and a son-in-law, Frank Palmer.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for June's family and her services.
