O'Brien, Irene
Irene O'Brien, 78, of Manchester died July 18, 2010 following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty. Family will greet friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa where there will be a 3 p.m. Scripture service. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Irene was born October 20, 1931 in Dyersville, the daughter of John and Marcella (Schute) Luensmann. On November 28, 1959, Irene was united in marriage to Dr. Wm. John O'Brien at the St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa.
Irene is survived by her husband, Dr. Wm. J. O'Brien of Manchester; two daughters, Dr. Mary Chris (Gary) O'Brien-Schnieders of Manchester and Lori A. (Rick) Schaul of Rockford, Illinois; five grandchildren, Andrew and Jay Schaul, Eric, Christian and Emily Schnieders; siblings, Lila Luensmann, Delrose (Tony) Broghammer, Margie (Al) McDermott, David (Kathleen) Luensmann, and Robert (Susie) Luensmann; sisters-in-law, Sr. Mary Damien O'Brien, PBM and Imogene (Dr. John) Eckstein; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marcella Luensmann, and one sister, Mary C. Luensmann.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
