O'Brien, Frederick Rock
Frederick Rock O'Brien, 81, of Keokuk, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in Bonita Springs, Fla.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on July 31, 1931, Fred grew up in Van Horne, Iowa, where he was an altar boy, enjoyed hunting and playing baseball. He served in the United States Navy (1950 to 1954) and graduated from Saint Mary's College, Winona, Minn. (1956).
He was married to Marie Therese Ament in Dyersville, Iowa on Feb. 15, 1958. She survives with six children and families.
He served 12 years on BC/BS of IA/SD board of directors. Having an innate desire for finding solutions and advancing business he was an entrepreneur of three ISO consulting businesses, a corporate HR executive at Hubinger/Heinz and a bank vice president at State Central Bank.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Lee County and/or Keokuk Trees Forever.
