O'Brien, Donald L.
Donald L. O'Brien, 57, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Winthrop, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following a sudden illness. Private memorial services will be Saturday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be at a later date at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Winthrop.
He is survived by wife, Michelle Hogan O'Brien of Belle Plaine; son, Derek Lee O'Brien; father-in-law, Mark Hogan of Independence; brothers, Dan (Diane) of Ocala, Fla., Steve (Kathy), of Hartwell, Ga. and Jim (Mollie) of Hartwell, Ga.; sisters, Patsy (Butch) Bass of Cookville, Tenn. and Sue (Gary) Roscovius of Independence; brothers-in-law, Mark (Jackie) Hogan of Cedar Rapids, Dean (Sue) Hogan of Independence and Pat Hogan of Mediapolis; and sisters-in-law, Joan (Denny) Sommerfelt of Walker, Carol (Mike) Williams of Merril, Robin Kress of Quasqueton, Christine (Stew) Bagley of Independence and Melissa (Kevin) Bergom of Belle Plaine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lorraine O'Brien of Winthrop; mother-in-law, Nadine Hogan of Independence; and brother-in-law, Ron Kress.
Don worked for 37 years at Whirlpool. He will be missed by his family and friends.
