Oberthien, Jean Marie

Jean Marie Oberthien, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital from pneumonia. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Jean is survived by three children, Susan (Oberthien) Jensen of Sacramento, Calif., Johnny (Kathy) Oberthien Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Jeff (Laurie) Oberthien of Solon; five grandchildren, Chad Jensen of Placerville, Calif., Jodie (Jensen) Gardiner of San Mateo, Calif., Ryan Oberthien of Cedar Rapids and Todd and Nicole Oberthien of Solon; and three great-grandchildren, Jensen Gardiner, Kiersten and Taryn Oberthien.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband John Sr.

Jean was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Red Oak, the daughter of Harry and Pauline (Ervein) Johnson. She married John Oberthien on Jan. 9, 1952.

The sound of your voice, your smile and your love, we shall always remember. You are no longer here, but in our hearts we will keep you near. We love you Mama!
